Appoint Tamil governor to North - TNA requests president

Tamil National Alliance parliamentarians headed by the leader R.Sambanthan met President Maithripal Sirisena at 12.00 pm yesterday and discussion continued for 30 minutes.
TNA MP M.A.Sumandhiran briefs on the discussion,
At the discussion president Maithripala Sirisena promised to appoint special commission to investigate on ethnic issue of this country.
We also briefed about crude oil used for the electricity production in the Chunnagam mix up with drinking water wells and many villagers suffer from lack of drinking.
TNA also requested president to appoint Tamil governor to Northern Provincial Council, pardon Tamil youths arrested under the prevention of terrorist act.
Commenting at the discussion former minister Rajitha Senaratne noted TNA should representate the cabinet to solve these issues.
Responding to this statement TNA leader R.Sambanthan went on to say, in 1977 former president J.R.Jayawardene also made similar request and we refused to accept it. TNA will representate the cabinet when the government agrees to solve all problems face by our Tamils in SriLanka.

Steps should be taken to appoint new governor, government agent and secretaries to the ministries in the Northern Provincial Council. Appoint Tamil person as governor of Northern Province, request made to change Government Agent serves in the Vavuniya, Mannar and Trincomalee districts. TNA members further noted for the past eight years an army commander serve as GA of the Trincomalee district.
Stop pass system to people visit from the foreign nation to Northern Province.
Responding to these requests government representatives went on to say,
We will appoint a committee to resettle down displaced persons in the Northern Province.
Steps would be taken to collect information on political prisoners and release them.
We have already decided to change governors of 9 provinces , special attention would be paid to appoint new GA and secretaries to ministries.
Necessary steps will be taken to stop pass system to foreigners and special committee would be appointed to solve ethnic issue of this nation.
TNA leader R.Sampanthan, parliamentarians Mawai Senathirajah, Dharmalingam Sidhardhan, M.A.Sumanthiran, Suresh Premachandran, Selvam Adaikalanathan and Sivashakthi Anandan present at this meeting.
