Retired army major stage hunger strike on demanding to abolish prevention of terrorist act

Retired army major detained under the prevention of terrorist act at the Jaffna prison stage hunger strike protest on demanding to abolish prevention of terrorist act.

Prisoner named Asitha Prabahath commenced his hunger strike protest on 26th of January. Prisoner stated he and many others were vastly affected from this act and also noted Terrorist Investigation Unit submits baseless evident and files case against them. Asitha Prabath further noted that he was detained over due to personal dispute reported between army officer named Hendavitharane. Meanwhile Bishop of Mannar Rev.Rayappu Joseph says more than 500 political prisoners are detained in this country.
