Gnanasara Thera alleges Azath Salley creates ethnic differences in SL

Bodu Bala Sena(BBS)General Secretary Galagodaatte Gnanasara demanded Azath Salley to quit active politics as he promised since the rally which was held yesterday(18) in Nugegoda attracted a lot more than 5000 people.
At a media briefing held today, Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera further pointed out that the relevant authorities should take immediate action against Salley for making racist comments on Sinhala Buddhists.
“This is not the first time he has tried to create ethnic tension between Buddhists and Muslims. Action should be taken against him for making such irresponsible and false statements,” said Gnanasara Thera.
BBS also mentioned that the rally was an historic and a very peaceful one and assured that it was not a rally organized to promote any type of religious disharmony among people and that BBS is an organization which stands to safeguard the rights of the Sinhala Buddhists.
“BBS is not against Muslims or Tamils or any other ethnic group. We are only against those who spread hatred, religious extremism among citizens,” stated Gnanasara Thera.
BBS further requested the government to appoint a committee to look into the matters pointed out by the organizations like them without labeling them as organizations promoting racism.
“We are concerned about the issues affecting the Sinhala Buddhist in the country but that does not mean we are racist or that we are making false stories to get media attention,” he added.
BBS Chief Executive Officer, Dilantha Withanage and National Organizer of the BBS Vitharandeniya Nanda Thera were also present at the press conference.
