Permit Revoked for the Liquor Factory owned by Former Minister’s Relatives

The Department of Excise revoked the permit for the liquor factory which has been owned by the former minister Johnston Fernando’s two close relatives.
Recently at Dematagoda area, 68,000 liquor bottles has been confiscated. With regard to this an investigation has been conducted and subsequent to this inquiry the liquor factory’s permit has been cancelled by the Excise Department.
Consequently the Excise Department sealed off Wayaba liquor manufacturing factory's main factory of Kurunegala, and Kalanjiyam in Jaffna.
The permit for this liquor factory has been given to this company which belongs to the relative of the former minister. After the intervention of Johnston Fernando, the permit for this liquor factory company has been given. This company has not paid cores of rupees to the Central Excise Department by making tax evasion.
