Only a section of people were allowed to see the lands that were announced to be released at Valikamam North. As the second stage of releasing the lands located under the high security zone in Jaffna district, 500 acres of land was said to be released today. Also, it was already announced that the people will be allowed to see their lands.
Accordingly, lands located at the KKS South (J - 235 GN), Veemankamam North, Palai (J - 236 GN), Veemankamam South, Palai (J - 237 GN), Kattuwan (J - 238 GN), Tenmayilai (J - 240 GN), Varuttalaivilan (J - 241 GN), Thaiyiddy South (J - 250 GN), Palay South (J - 252 GN) and Valalai (J - 284 GN) were announced to be released.
Following to this announcement, thousands of uprooted people gathered there. Saying that they are going to release the lands gradually, people were given access to few of the areas. Thus, most of the families returned home with huge disappointment.
