War crimes charges against 40 Lankans

War crimes charges have been levelled against 40 Sri Lankans, including a former top defence official and a senior military officer who had led the armed forces, according to the final report of the committee appointed by former UNHRC chief Navi Pillai.

This report is to be submitted to the UNHRC session in Geneva in September. Norwegian diplomatic, former peace envoy and minister Erik Solheim says in a twitter message that he has communicated with new chief Zaid Al Hussen in this regard. The identity of those who have given evidence against the military officers will not be revealed until 2031.
