SLFP approved cancellation of Executive powers of the President

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party has approved the proposal of Cancellation of the Executive Powers of the President.

The President Maithripala Sirisena is going to Present Cabinet Papers on Abolishing the Executive Presidency Today. President Maithripala Sirisena is expected to present Cabinet papers proposing the abolishing of executive presidency and the amendment of electoral system at the Cabinet meeting today. The President gave a pledge to carry out these reforms on the day of Maduluwawe Sobitha Thera's funeral. The Sri Lanka Freedom Party Central Committee gave its approval for the proposal at its meeting yesterday.
