Upon the arrival of the UN Committee keppapulavu Camp became keppapulavu village

In Mullaitivu district, upon arrival of the UN Committee, a camp named “keppapulavu model village” has been renamed as “keppapulavu Village” overnight.
As the entire Keppapulavu village has been being occupied by the occupying Sri Lankan military, villagers have been temporarily resettled in the nearby forest areas.
The people from Keppapulavu have been continuously demanding the authorities to resettle them at their own well off land despite they were provided houses at the particular place where they have been living after the war came to an end.
They demanded their lands where they had been living for years and years. The people further stated that the occupying Sri Lankan military joyfully consumes the resources of their village.
Meanwhile, in the resolution passed at Geneva, the pressure exerted on the Sri Lankan government to resettle the uprooted people at their own lands.
Though this point was included in the resolutions passed at Geneva in the past few years, people from the villages like Keppapulavu have been living without being resettled at their own lands.
Meanwhile, by renaming the “Keppapulavu model village” as the “Keppapulavu village”, the Sri Lankan military attempts to conceal the appropriation of Keppapulavu village, Keppapulavu people highlighted.
The people from Keppapulavu stated that they are going to urge the UN committee to exert pressure on the Sri Lankan government to hand over their lands being occupied by the Sri Lankan military and to resettle them at their own lands.

They further demanded that arrangements should be made for them to meet the UN committee so as to reveal about the refugee lives that they have been living.
