Vavuniya Citizens Committee on Friday called on people to mark Tamil National Remembrance day, or Maaveerar Naal, by lighting ghee lamps in memory of those who gave their lives to the Tamil nation's struggle against oppression.
Marking the moment when the first LTTE cadre Lt Shankar, died in the struggle, at 18:05 on November 27th, 1982, the Vavuniya Citizens Committee urged people to light their lamps at 18:05 today.
