Sri Lanka's Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe stated that only 4,600 acres of lands in north are being utilized by the Sri Lankan military. But, several more acres of lands in north are being occupied by the occupying Sri Lankan military. Statistics in this regard has also been already revealed.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister further added that some parts in East are also still being under the possession of Sri Lankan military. He further stated that resolution regarding the release of these lands for the protection and development of our people should be made soon.
However, the former TNA parliamentarian Suresh Premachandran stated that 65,000 acres of lands are being occupied by the occupying Sri Lankan military. He stated like this last year when the new government of Sri Lanka was claiming that only 5,000 acres of lands in north were being in the possession of the Sri Lankan military.
TNA parliamentarian Mavai Senathirajah recently stated that around 4,000 acres of lands in Valikamam are yet to be released.
In the meantime, several thousands of acres of lands in Vanni are being occupied by the occupying Sri Lankan military. Lands belonging to temples, industries, factories, government departments, residential areas and paddy lands are included in this, according to the reports revealed by our reporters.
Gigantic army camps were established at the several areas in Killinochchi and Mullaitivu districts. Private lands at the vicinity of the city were confiscated. Demanding the release of these lands, the people stage continuous protests.
People from Paravipanchan, Killinochchi stage continuous protests demanding the release of their lands. Kepapulavu people also stage continuous protests like this. Military camp is located in several acres of lands in the surrounding of Kanakambigai Amman temple.
Taking all these into account, it is clear-cut that several thousands of lands in north are still being occupied by the occupying Sri Lankan military. Releasing all these lands is the inevitable task of this government.
