National Centre for Women's Affairs is kept closed except on the opening day at Killinochchi


National Centre for female head households and widows have been opened by Chandrani Bandaranayake, the minister of Women and Children's Affairs, on 13th of November.
But people express their anxiety as this National Centre for female head households and widows is being kept closed without any activities.
Following are revealed in this regard;
In his visit to Killinochchi last January, the Prime Minister stated that National Centre for protecting and uplifting female head households and widows would be opened at Killinochchi.



In that regard, this particular office was opened by this particular ministry on 13th of November. But, no human resources were allocated for that. That is why; this office is being kept closed other than the date on which it was opened.
Without allocating the human resources, his office was opened by just placing a name board in an already existing building. Then, it is being kept closed. Therefore, people from Killinochchi, where many women head households, live express their anxiety.
People from their raised question whether state minister Vijayakala would take action in this regard.




Though it was verbally announced that this particular National Center would carry out the activities with the intention of protecting the women head households and widows and uplifting their livelihoods, no activities have been taken so far, according to many women among the women head households.
