President Maithiripala Sirisena has stated in an interview given to an Indian media, that the Tamil political prisoners will not be given a common amnesty, adding that no prisoners can be named as ‘Political Prisoners’ in Sri Lanka.
“There is a demand for the abolition of the PTA , but it should also be considered before its implementation in a situation like the western countries face a serious threat of terrorism.
I will make the announcement of the new Constitution in the Parliament on the 9th of this month. The amendments will be made making no harm to the sovereignty of the country, with the consultation of the experts.
