The United Nations Secretary General Bank Ki Moon expressed hope that Sri Lanka would stand by its commitments to the United Nations Human Rights Council in a press conference this week.
Responding to questions on Sri Lanka’s rejections of foreign judges in an accountability mechanisms, the UN Secretary General spokesperson Stephane Dujarric, said,
“The Secretary General also recalls that the Human Rights Council resolution on Sri Lanka, cosponsored by the current Government, affirms the importance of a credible justice process and international participation in the judicial mechanism.”
Mr Dujarric added that the office “remains hopeful that the Sir Lankan government will stand by its commitments and full implement the resolution.”
