While the government is making laws to increase female representation in national politics, several female Parliamentarians representing the two mainstream parties have complained to their party authorities that they were being subjected to sexual harassment by elderly MPs within the Parliamentary premises. A female MP had complained to her party authorities that a senior Parliamentarian touched her hand in an inappropriate manner during a Parliamentary session. Another female MP had complained that a senior MP had passed sexist and vulgar remarks at her, within the Parliamentary premises, soon after a session. But, However, there is no inquiry has so far been initiated by either of parties in connection with these incidents. According to the informed political sources, that the need to ensure discipline during the Parliamentary sessions had been stressed during the group meeting of the ruling coalition parties.
