| The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad Al-Hussein Rejected a Request made by the Northern Province Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran to intervene for the release of LTTE prisoners through a general amnesty. The Northern Province Chief Minister Wigneswaran made this request yesterday in the morning, when he met the UNHRC Chief Zeid Ra'ad Al-Hussein in Jaffna. But, however, Zeid Ra'ad Al-Hussein told C.V. Wigneswaran that the Release of the political prisoners should be carried out under the available legal procedure and processes only. The UNHRC Chief met with relatives of the disappeared and the IDPs during his northern trip.              |
