Kautharimunai located at Pooneyrn in Killinochchi is a historic and beautiful area. This was the most important place for the Cholas. It had been being preserved with its natural aspects.

Meanwhile, activities of setting up a luxurious hotel in the name of a businessman from South are being attempted with the support of occupying Sri Lankan military. It was stated that the one who closest to Namal Rajapakse was constructing this luxurious hotel.
In the meantime, some of the higher ranking officers state that this luxurious hotel is being set up in the name of Namal Rajapakse’s proxy. Archaeologists state that these kinds of activities would affect the uniqueness and ancientness of this area.
Despite the Northern Provincial Education Minister who recently went to this area blocked off the activities of setting up this luxurious hotel, the activities of setting up this hotel are continued. People of Kautharimunai are frustrated due to this.
People of this area stated that actions should be taken to conserve their native place with its natural aspects and the activities of destructing the uniqueness and beauty of their historic area by setting up the luxurious hotels in the sand mounts should be stopped.
