Tense situation arose around the area of Iluppakadavai in the Manthai West Divisional Secretariat in the district of Mannar after the discovery of ammunition in a land near the agricultural department of the division on Wednesday.
The Illuppakadavai police brought the information to Mannar Magistrate A.G.Alexrajah and the discovery process was taken place in the presence of the Magistrate.
After observation, the Magistrate ordered relevant authorities to take measures to destroy the ammunition, he also ordered the police to make sure the security of the public of the area.
The said land was occupied by the police department during the years from 2008 to 2015 and the Illuppakadavai police station was situated in the land.
Meanwhile, a doubtful question has arisen among the Tamils that the discoveries of ammunition in the North is a plan for the long term existence of the military camps in the North while the Tamil communities have been urging the government and the international communities to remove the military presence from the areas where Tamil people live in the Northern and Eastern Provinces.
