
The Tamil National Alliance assured the people of Kepapulavu in the district of Mullaitivu that the issues of land occupied by the military and resettlement of the areas would be taken to the attention of the President. Some families from the village of Kepapulavu in the district of Mullaitivu have been staging hunger strike in front of the temple of Pillayar in the area demanding of release of their lands and resettlement. 520 acres of land of people have been occupied by the military since the war was ended in 2009. The government have taken measures to release the lands of people in the areas of Valikamam north and east in Jaffna and Sampur in Trincomalee but no measures were taken in the areas affected severely by the war. The said promise was given by the delegation that visited the people, comprising the parliamentarians Sivashakthi Ananthan and K.Sivamoham and provincial councillors Ravikaran and Sivanesan, stated that the issues would be taken to the government’s attention.
