Tamil Political Prisoners: 8th day of hunger strike

Tamil political prisoners who were arrested and detained under the Prevention of Terrorism Act continue their fast unto death campaign at the New magazine Prison in Colombo for the 8^th day today (Mar 01).

The 14 detainees began their hunger strike on 23^rd and continue. 63 other Tamil inmates, who joined in the strike yesterday (Monday) for supporting the 14 detainees, continue to participate in the strike today.

The inmates stress that the government should take measures to release them after lawsuit.

Meanwhile, two other detainees who carried out hunger strike at Anuradhapura prison had already given up their fast.

The detainees have been in the prison without any charge sheet.
