The planned Sinhalese colonisation in the north is similar to the issues like genocide, said the Northern Chief minister C.V Wickneswaran to the US delegation.The team headed by Todd F. Buchwald, Special Coordinator for Office of Global Criminal Justice of US state department met C.V in Colombo yesterday (Saturday).
Wickneswaran made this observation, saying about the above meeting.
He added that, the federal government also ignore the provincial councils like past government. The decisions have been made by federal government without discussing with provincial administration.
“I explained to US delegation about the trouble conditions of it. Especially I explained the issues related to the Army- held lands in the North East and the programme of 65,000 houses in the Northern and Eastern provinces clearly. And I pointed out the Sinhalese colonisation in the north.”
He mentioned that, the Central government did not discuss the details of its housing project for the Northern and Eastern Provinces with the provincial administration and people’s representatives in the North.
The 13th amendment was enacted with the main aim of power devolution for North and East. So the power sharing should be carried out to all the provinces.
