No threats to national national security

The Government does not see it as an easy task on the steps taken to strengthen the National Security and we are capable of protecting the country, said the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Eng. Karunasena Hettiarachchi.

According to the Secretary Hettiarachchi, releasing of lands in North for its original owners could not also be considered as a threat to the National Security. Although, some of the particular lands which are important for the tri forces or other considerable reasons have not been released, therefore the owners would be paid compensations instead of those lands. Secretary, speaking about the recently reported criminal incidents at several places across the country said that they are also not a threat to the National Security since there is a huge gap in between these incidents and the National Security. “The government has declared an amnesty to return the illegal weapons in possession of the civil citizens “, he said. The Government, security forces, and the intelligent services of the country are in attention on the international terrorist activities and therefore people should not be afraid about that, also said the secretary.
