Cabinet Spokesman Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne said truth had been revealed that it was planned to hire killers from Chennai to assassinate President Maithripala Sirisena during the presidential election campaign 2015. Addressing a media conference in Colombo on Wednesday (May 11) the minister said measures were taken to bring the assassins and send them back by sea. The secret was revealed by one of Mahinda Rajapaksa’s drivers, he said. The minister further added that the necessary steps were taken since they could foresee the mindset of Mahinda’s collation, adding that if Mahinda had come into power again, top leaders of today’s government including Maithripala Sirisena could have been killed. Dr.Rajitha said former loyal persons of Mahinda reveal his secret today, adding the government would take action over the revelation of such corruptions of the former regime.
