Gotabhaya camp located at Vaddvakal in Mullaitivu is being strengthened

Sri Lankan Navy Camp named “Gotabhaya Camp” located at Vadduvakal in Mullaitivu district is being strengthened, according to the anxiety expressed by the people of this particular area. While the lands of them are expected to be released during the government of good governance, people are shocked as the Gotabhaya Camp is being strengthened.

Gotabhaya Camp is located at 626 acres of land in which 379 acres of land are privately owned and the remaining 247 acres of land are public land. Most of the areas were appropriated after being covered with the barbed wire fence.
Thus, about 500 families have lost their habitat. People repeatedly requested the release of these lands. It is said that these lands are occupied by the occupying Sri Lankan navy in order to ensure the national security.
The people of this particular land have been wandering in streets as refugees and staying in the relatives’ homes.
Meanwhile, people are frustrated as their lands are being permanently seized while their lands are expected to be released during this new regime.
The meantime, people demanded the government and the respective authorities to stop their lands being permanently appropriated and to take steps to the release of their lands.
