"Reconciliation between the victims and those who inflicted the harm will only be possible in a country when the affected people's requests, appeals and point of view is understood and acknowledged," Mr Wigneswaran said during the meeting.

"Instead of this, the Colombo government is making claims that is is doing this or that for reconciliation [but] these efforts will be futile," he added.
Norway's five member delegation from the ministry of foreign affairs, undertook a two day visit to the island, focusing on reconciliation efforts. The delegation met with the government on arrival in Colombo.
