Sri Lanka on Tuesday (2nd Aug) said it is prepared to investigate claims by former LTTE cadres that they were forcibly given injections with toxic substance while in government rehabilitation. Wanni District parliamentarian of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Sivagnanam Sritharan during a speech in parliament a couple of months ago said at least 103 ‘rehabilitated’ LTTE cadres have died over the past few years due to cancer. He urged the government to look into the allegations of these surrendered LTTE cadres being forcibly injected with toxic substance while in rehabilitation, so that they would face slow death. And the former LTTE members ready to face the medical test. According to the government spokesman Minister Dr Rajitha Senaratne statement the government have to take responsibility on this issue.
