Chief Minister of the Northern Province CV Wigneswaran says the government’s proposed plan to construct a fisheries harbour in Keerimalai, Jaffna should be suspended. The Chief Minister said the construction of a harbour would be inappropriate as it is adjacent to a sacred place of worship. The Keerimalai Naguleswaram temple, a famous Hindu temple, is found in Keerimalai. Therefore the Chief Minister called for the project to be suspended. The Chief Minister CV Wigneswaran was speaking during a religious function in the area last evening (2nd Aug). He also mentioned that the government planned to control the Keerimalai harbour for military purpose.
