Massacred Sencholai school girls remembered in Jaffna

A vigil was held in Jaffna on Sunday marking 10 years since the Sencholai massacre, where 53 schoolgirls and 3 teachers were killed by a Sri Lankan air force bombing raid.
Relatives of those murdered were joined by civil society organisations and Tamil politicians from the TNPF and TNA, as they gathered to remember the lives of those killed.
In an emotional ceremony, the mother of one the dead schoolgirls lit a flame of remembrance as mourners stood before makeshift effigies made from white cloth lined along the street, each displaying the name of a murdered schoolchild.
