Government sources have revealed that it has not directed any authority to issue such letters which were received by the Internally Displaced People who have been living in 43 welfare centres in Jaffna stating that the lands of 11 Grama Niladhari divisions in Valikamam North would not be released but compensation to be given for the lands. The TNA had instructed the people not to accept such letters and brought the matters to the Prime Minister’s consideration. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe replied to the TNA that he had not known anything about the letter and assured to look into the matter. TNA PM Mavai Senathirajah said President Maithripala Sirisena said the Minister of Rehabilitation that he had not directed to release such letters. Meanwhile, a question has been raised that the Secretary of the President acts independently with regard to the land issues in the district of Jaffna.
