Protesters gathered in front of Paddipalai Divisional Secretariat in the Batticaloa district this morning (Nov 15) to condemn the Buddhist monk who behaved in an untruly manner and insulted a Grama Niladhari and the minority Tamils.
The protesters handed over a petition to be forwarded to the President, the Prime Minister and the Inspector General of Police urging them to evacuate the untruly monk from the area and arrest him to face lawsuit.
TNA parliamentarians of the Batticaloa district S. Yogeswaran, N.Srinesan, S. Viyalenthiran, Eastern Provincial Minister K.Thurairajasingham, councilors N. Krishnapillai, M.Nadarasa, K. Karunakaram, I. Prasanna, R. Thurairatnam, former parliamentarians P.Arianenthiran and Pon. Selvarasa took part in the protest.
Additional District Secretariat S.Kiritharan and ASP of Batticaloa Sisira Pethathanthiri arrived and discussed with the protesters and agreed to take legal action.
