Family members of the forcibly disappeared and kidnapped persons have staged several protests in the northern and eastern provinces today (March 22) calling the United Nations Homan Rights Council not to grant more time to Sri Lanka for the implementation of the 2015 Geneva resolution.
The protesters urged the UN body to take the human rights violations and war crimes that were committed in Sri Lanka to the UN General Assembly as well as the Security Council.
The leaflets distributed by the protesters state that the Sri Lanka government had not taken meaningful measures to fulfill the requests of the affected people, adding top portfolios including President Maithripala Sirisena had failed to act accordingly.
