R. Sampanthan, the Leader of the Opposition and the Tamil National Alliance said the hartal which is scheduled to be held in the northern and eastern provinces should be in a way to bring the attention of the international community. Speaking to media over the invitation to support to the hartal to be observed by the relatives of the enforced disappeared persons, said that the TNA respects the demands of the people, adding that he hoped all community of the country would extend their support to the hartal. Mr. Sampanthan said the lack of interest of the government that has failed to take steps to implement the Bill to establish the Office of Missing Persons which was adopted in parliament in 2016 was not acceptable. The Opposition Leader also called on to strengthen the demonstration on the issue so that the solution could be finally reached.
