The UN Commissioner for Human Rights NavinThampillai has expressed concern that the Sri Lankan government's current activities are deteriorating. He also said that he believed the government would fulfill the promises made to the United Nations.
He said this during the English medium.
He said that the new government in Sri Lanka hoped to fulfill its commitments to the United Nations.
He pointed out that the Sri Lankan government could not maintain this hope without fulfilling its commitments to the United Nations.
Meanwhile, commenting on the recent rioting in Kandy, he said that violence can not be taken as a clerical, and criticized it as a brutal act in a community of agitation and war experience.
In this situation, he warned that if tomorrow the criminals were not punished, then others would not hesitate to take the law into their hands.
