The pattern of Sinhalicization, and Buddhisticsation through SL militarisation is witnessed from Naayaa'ru and Kokku'laay in Mullaiththeevu to Ilangkaith-thu'rai, which is an ancient Tamil coastal village at a scenic location in the Eechchilam-pattai division of Trincomalee district.
SL President Maithiripala Sirisena, who is having the ministry of Mahaweli Development is targeting Sinhala colonisation of interior lands of Eezham Tamils from Mullaiththeevu in Vanni to the north of Batticaloa. SL Departments of Archaeology, Forest and Wildlife Conservation are coordinated at a top-level plan of alienating the public and private lands of Eezham Tamils to future Sinhala colonists.
In the meantime, Tamil-speaking people are refused of treating their homeland as merged North-East.
But, the SL Navy is dealing with the entire coast in a joint fashion as its Eastern Naval Area (EAN).
Parallel to the Sinhalicisation, demographic changes and the choking of the territorial integrity of the homeland of Eezham Tamils is the activity of Sinhala Buddhist extremist monks who claim ownership to the places of worship with traces of ancient Mahayana Buddhism of Eezham Tamils.
Such places of Tamil Buddhist heritage subjected to the occupation of Sinhala extremist Theravada Buddhists not only lose their original identity but they are also transformed into tools of Sinhala Buddhicisation of the lands of Eezham Tamils.
The Census Map of 2012 showing Weli-oya, a recently created and colonized division of the Mullaith-theevu district as an exclusive Sinhala division. The division has now wedged the contiguity between the Tamil districts Vavuniyaa in the Northern Province and Trincomalee in the Eastern Province, while it established contiguity with the Sinhala district Anuradhapura in the North Central Province.

System B of Mahaweli scheme targets to Sinhalicise and colonise the agricultural and grazelands of Eezham Tamils in Batticaloa. The area being subjected to occupation was safeguarded by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) till 2007 and is known as Paduvaan-karai
