Sri Lankan military forces occupying Palaly had a post office to meet their needs opened in the area on Saturday.
The Palaly army camp is built on occupied land and is part of a high security zone which remains off-limits to local civilians, including the landowners.
Locals expressed concern that the move signalled that the military had no intention of returning their land, and also pointed out that postal services have still not been set up for resettled residents nearby such as in Myliddy.
