Government has not yet approached Seychelles to seek assistance to locate Mahinda's money

The Government has not yet approached Seychelles to seek assistance to locate money said to have been hidden in that country by former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Seychelles, an Indian Ocean archipelago of 115 islands with a population of around 90,000 people has been accused of harbouring assets stolen by the former Sri Lankan regime.
However, when contacted by the Seychelles news agency, the Seychelles Financial Investigation Unit (FIU) said “we can say that we have not as yet received any requests for help from the Sri Lankan Government to investigate claims that stolen assets are hidden here.
Then Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jean-Paul Adam, who is now the Minister of Finance, Trade and Blue economy had earlier refuted the allegations that Seychelles is a “safe haven” for stolen assets, adding that “the government of Seychelles will assist with all formal requests for an investigation into the assets of Sri Lanka’s former president.”
