More than 80 Lankans arrested

More than 80 Sri Lankans have been arrested in Indonesia for being in the country without a valid visa, the ANTARA News agency reported.

The news agency reported that nearly 85 Sri Lankans had been arrested following a raid and have been placed at an immigration detention center. “The foreigners were arrested for violating the Immigration Act. Most of them are seeking political asylum in Australia and some other countries, ” head of the detention center Purbanus Sinaga said. Indonesia is often used as a transit country by asylum seekers heading to Australia or any other county.
