Jaffna Vadamarachchi journalist remanded till 17

A freelance journalist operating from Jaffna has been remanded after he was produced in court over a news report, the Jaffna media said.

N. Logathayalan, a contributor to the Jaffna based Uthayan newspaper, had been asked to appear before the police today to be questioned over a news report where he had stated that a girl had been abused by a policeman in Jaffna. Journalist was ordered to visit the Neeliyadi police station around 10.00 am yesterday and produced before the point pedro court 2.00 pm yesterday. Magistrate ordered to remanded the journalist till April 17. Further investigations are underway.
