Sivakamy Sivasubramaniyam alias Thamilni, who was formerly the head of LTTE's Women Political Wing, has passed away on Sunday at Maharagama cancer hospital after battling cancer for some months, news sources in Colombo said. Coming from an Up-Country Tamil family settled in Paranthan in Vanni, Ms Thamilini served in the LTTE for almost 18 years and had earned the trust of the LTTE leader V. Pirapaharan for her political work. Thamilini was one of the foremost political leaders of the LTTE, who had proved that women were not second to men in contributing to the liberation of the nation of Eezham Tamils.

Thamilini was one of the key survivors who suffered torture of all kinds in the captivity of Sinhala genocidal military after May 2009.
After her release from the SL military ‘rehabilitation’ in June 2013, Thamilini slowly recovered from the untold sufferings and began to emerge as a prolific writer recording what she had witnessed in the past. She was also writing poetry and was active on social media in the recent months.
Mr. M. Jeyakumaran, a diaspora Eezham Tamil of social and literary bent of mind from the UK, married Thamilni in 2013 giving support in her life pursuits.
However, cancer diagnosis came as a shock to her and to those who were close to her.
Knowing that she only had a few months to live, Thamilini was prepared to give a comprehensive testimony if the interview could take place in a foreign country. But, she didn't get any international openings to accomplish it, informed sources told TamilNet.
Thamilni Jeyakumaran's funeral is to take place in Paranthan, Ki'linochchi, on Tuesday.
