The Sri Lankan military denied that it is currently running any businesses, reports The Sunday Leader.
Military Media Spokesperson Brigadier Jayanath Jayaweera told the newspaper “We have no business ventures run by the military at present”.
“However, if specific places are being mentioned, I might be able to respond to,” he added.
His comments came in response to Sri Lanka’s Minister of Rehabilitation and Resettlement stating the army had pledged to withdraw from commercial activity in the North-East
Amongst the many military run business ventures in the North-East is the "Thalasevana Holiday Resort” inside the Valikamam North High Security Zone, which was visited by BBC South Asia correspondent Justin Rowlatt earlier this year.
