Northern Chief Minister (CM) C.V. Wigneswaran will meet President Maithripala Sirisena on Thursday (12) to discuss the grievances of Tamil political prisoners who are currently staging a hunger protest. CM Wigneswaran recently stated that all Tamil political prisoners should be released on a general amnesty and that he completely rejects the decision to bail out the political prisoners.

| The CM meanwhile said there were various requests by some to change the Northern Province Ministers and it is understood that there had been meetings and discussions held in this regard. "It is our duty to appoint ministers. If there are any complaints regarding the ministers I will take action against them. However, I don't understand the necessity to change them," he said. |
