"Sri Lankan Army needs to be educated on future warfare to become a modernized army by 2025," said Mr Wickremsinghe, adding that the government hopes to launch “a program on future warfare to ensure the army is geared to handle different types of security threats and face any situation in future”.
His comments came as he presided over the passing out of 161 more Officer Cadets at Diyatalawa Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) on Sunday.
Mr Wickremesinghe was presented with a copy of the SLMA book, “Pudumathalan Rescue Operation: Use of Mass Human Shields as a Terrorist Tactic and Armed Forces’ Response” and the Sinhala version of the “Battle of Danture” as he gifted swords to the graduated officers.
