5,710 acres of lands are still being appropriated as the High Security Zone (HSZ) in Jaffna

The lands of those who have been living in the welfare centers are yet to be released, the former chairman of Valikamam North regional council S.Sukirthan stated.
Following are further stated in this regard;
After the regime change, people are allowed to be resettled in 1000 acres of lands in Valikamam North.
190 acres of lands have been recently released though it was earlier stated that 701.5 acres of lands would be released.
5,710 acres of lands are still being appropriated as the High Security Zone (HSZ). 5,500 acres of lands from Valikamam North and 210 acres of lands from Valikamam East are yet to be released.
The lands of those who have been living in the welfare centers are yet to be released.
None of the lands of those who have been living in the welfare centers are yet to be released. These people have been living in 38 welfare centers after they had been uprooted. The president in his visit to Jaffna assured that the issues of those who have ben living in the welfare centers would be resolved within 6 months.
Lands of those who have been living in the welfare centers have not been released even in the lands which have been released recently. The issues of these people who have been living in the welfare centers for 25 years should be resolved quickly as per the assurance given by the president.
Pongal festival can be celebrated after resettling these people and releasing the 5,710 acres of lands.
Celebrating Pongal festival like this will make those, who have been still living in the welfare centers, poignant.
Therefore, Pongal Festival can be celebrated after the people resettlement of these people.
