75 Tamil prisoners engage in hunger strike

75 Tamil prisoners detained at the Magazine prison decided to stage one day hunger strike protest on demanding to fulfill the requests made by the Tamil political prisoners detained at the Magazine and Anuradhapura prisons.

Madhiyarasan Sulakshan , resident of Karawetti Jaffna and Ganeshan Chandran resident of Nawalapitiya areas. These two prisoners were detained for long period and yet police officials failed to file charge sheet against them. Due to this situation these to prisoners commenced fast un to death protest on last week. Continuing their protest for sixth day. On Saturday Attorney General Department announced case against these two prisoners would be filed at the Vavuniya court. Since the announcement prisoners called off their hunger stike protest. In such situation since Tuesday 14 Tamil prisoners including female prisoner detained at the J cell of Magazine prison commenced their protest and continuing it for sixth day.
