Marching to demand the release of political prisoners

A marching was carried out by all religious leaders in Colombo today (Feb 1) to insist to release Tamil political prisoners who were arrested under the Prevention of Terrorism Act. The demonstrators marched from the Magazine Prison towards the Presidential Secretariat and the Temple Trees. A petition that consists of demands was handed over to the Presidential Secretariat and the office of the Prime Minister. The demonstrators requested the government to release all political prisoners before the Independence Day.
