In an exclusive interview with Athavan News Ms.Mangaleswary said, “We two Attorney-sat-Law visited inmates who are on fasting at the New Magazine Prison. We were able to meet only three of them. We were told that the other three of them were admitted to prison hospital. The prisoners told us that they were able to meet us since they had been injected four bottles of saline.”
“They made a request to the politicians, Attorney General’s Department, public, attorneys-at-Law who attend for them and the human rights organizations who stand for their release to raise their voice for the immediate release even on bail”
There are 14 male and a female inmates among whom three of them had already under went rehabilitation and rearrested, she added.
Meanwhile, Prisons Media Spokesperson Thushara Upuldeniya refused that the inmates were critical; he assured that the detainees were being examined by medical officers regularly.
