UN expects credibility through war crime probe – Farhan Haq

Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesman for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon says that the United Nations expects from Sri Lanka to prove its credibility through war crime investigation. Addressing the reporters at the UN’s Headquarters in New York Mr.Farhan Haq stated that the present situation is the most appropriate time for Sri Lanka to carry out proper investigation for reconciliation. He also pointed out that the move of President Maithripala Sirisena to for a mechanism to probe the incidents related to the alleged war crimes took place during the final phase of the war shows the real intention of the Sri Lanka government.
