A former LTTE commander has been abducted by unknown persons in the Eastern province, reports The Island.
The commander, identified as Ram, was kidnapped at Thambuluvil in Amparai. He went through the Sri Lankan government’s ‘rehabilitation’ program after the end of the armed conflict on the island in 2009 and was only released 4 years later.
His wife has since lodged a complaint with the police, but no further information has been released regarding his whereabouts.
The latest disappearance comes just days after the arrest of another former LTTE cadre by Sri Lanka’s Terrorist Investigation Department (TID).
Another Tamil man who was also abducted by a white van from his home in Jaffna earlier this month, was subsequently found in Sri Lanka's notorious Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters in Colombo.
