The president who visited to Jaffna did not announce anything regarding the resettlement

The uprooted people from Valikamam North, who has been waiting for their resettlement for last 30 years, greatly expected the president’s visit to Jaffna this time with the expectation of his announcements with regard to the resettlement of Valikamam North people.

The president after declaring open of the Jaffna Duraiyappa Stadium has not revealed any statements with regard to the resettlement. Thus, the people who were expecting about the announcements regarding the resettlement are now frustrated and disappointed.
The president, who visited Jaffna on 20th of December to celebrate the Christmas Day celebrations last time, gave assurance that all the displaced people would be resettled at their own lands within six months.
It is noted that the dead line promised by the president is going to end on 20th of this month.
Meanwhile, the uprooted people from Valikamam North stated that they had been dreaming of their resettlement as the president gave assurance on it. They were disappointed by the President as he took no actions or made no statements with regard to this, they added.
The people of Valikamam North announced that the continuous hunger strike demanding their resettlement is going to be staged on 22nd of this month onwards.
