International judges, prosecutors, and lawyers should be allowed in the Accountability mechanism, and it must not be handled by Army commandos, UN’s working group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances said.
Prevention of Terrorism Act should be immediately removed and an international standardised legislation should be in place, the UN’s committee has recommended.
The legislation should assist the victims and according to the habeas corpus act, the judges should have the power, it added. The findings of the Working group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances, which visited the country on November 09th last year, will be examined during Thursday’s session in Geneva.
