The 62nd birthday of Supreme Leader of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) Velupillai Prabhakaran was celebrated at the Jaffna University premises today (Nov 26).
The day was celebrated by cutting cake and sharing sweats.
In the year 2009, when the armed conflict came to an end, the Rajapaksa government started oppressing the Tamil communities and prevented them from commemorating and celebrating such events related to the LTTE.
But when the regime changed in 2015 with the votes of Northern and Eastern Tamil people, since then they try to do amidst opposition from the government.
